Lovely Alyssa Thomas of Penguin & Fish has had quite the year…growing her embroidery and patterns business, designing her debut fabric collection Safari Sweet and getting noticed all over in the crafting and sewing community. Check out what publications Alyssa has been featured in over the last couple months…
In the Studios Magazine Fall 2011 by Interweave Press Alyssa’s studio was profiled…is it cool or what?
The Summer 2011 issue of Stuffed Magazine featured Alyssa’s plush creatures…SO cute.
Alyssa was named an “Emerging Designer” in Issue 82 of FabShop News…awesome!
Exciting! I am looking forward to seeing Alyssa’s awesome booth at Quilt Market and getting the chance to interview her for the blog. Continue to look for more information and more brilliant things from this very talented designer!
Exciting news! The Safari Sweet Trunk Show is on its way to the very first shop on the list, Sewtropolis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Here is a peek at some of the things in the show…
The Playtime pattern from Karie Patch Designs. Perfect for tummy time…just lay baby down on this cute little playmat and watch those curious fingers grab at the cool twisted bowties. You can tie on toys or simply let baby explore.
The Kwik Sew pattern 3689, an adorable and easy-to-make dress with bloomers. Is there anything cuter than baby bloomers?
Here is Kwik Sew pattern 3546, a great versatile pattern must-have for baby that includes little grab toys, headbands, bibs, and booties.>.
Last but not least, because baby booties are so darn cute, we have a bonus bootie pattern that provides a bit of a different look than the Kwik Sew booties. These booties are from the Quilted Baby Mary Jane pattern by Curby’s Closet.</a
The show will be traveling to several quilt shops across the country in the coming weeks. It will be at Sewtropolis through mid-October, Greenbaum’s Quilted Forest mid to late October, and Quilted Threads at the beginning to mid part of November. So check it out and Happy Sewing!
To see what else is in the show, click here to view our previous blog post. A special thanks goes out to our accounting/finance whiz Shirl Nelson for making the adorable baby dress and to sewing diva Jean Seamster for making the fabulous baby booties, bibs, headbands and grab toys. Thank you to Karen DuMont of Karie Patch Designs, as well, for getting the Playtime quilt done during the midst of the recent hurricane–talk about dedication!
It’s finally here and it is GORGEOUS! It’s soft, it’s luscious, it’s everything and more I hoped it would be. Here are some photos of our fabulous Warehouse Manager, Tony, double and rolling the organic fabric loveliness…
Isn’t that cool? That’s our double and rolling machine that takes the rolls of fabric we get and magically folds and rolls them onto the fabric reels you find at your local quilt shop.
Look for Safari Sweet and Everyday Organic Solids at a store near you in the coming days ahead!
