Those lazy days of summer may be in full swing, so if you’re looking for a project to keep busy- look no further!!!! Clothworks is hosting the Farm to Fabric Challenge, a juried quilt exhibition set to premier at this year’s International Quilt Market & Festival in Houston, Texas on October 25th through November 2nd, 2014. In honor of Clothworks latest release of all American made fabric, with a selection of 50 scrumptious colors aptly called American Made Brand Solids, we’re taking submissions for entry into the Farm to Fabric Challenge now through August 15th. We’re calling on all of you talented and artistic folks out there to put on your creative thinking caps and enter something amazing into this contest!!
From a cotton seed to a bolt of fabric in your hand at your favorite local fabric shop, American Made Brand Solids by Clothworks are grown, processed, woven, dyed, and manufactured right here in the United States of America. We’re leaving it up to you– the gifted sewists, quilters, and textile artists, to submit quilt entries into the Farm to Fabric Challenge that speak to this theme: “Celebrating Farm to Fabric”. As you design your textile masterpieces using American Made Brand Solids, consider what it means to you, your family, or your community to bring fabric production back to the USA! Are you up for the challenge?
It’s not too late to submit your work- the deadline is Friday, August 15, 2014. Click on this link to read more about the details for registration into the Farm to Fabric Challenge. And be sure to read the 4-1-1 on how to photograph your quilt submissions at this link. There are some great resources here.
A stellar jury comprised of 3 incredible women who all reign in the quilting & sewing communities, including Pokey Bolton, Alissa Haight Carlton, and Heather Jones, will judge the entries submitted to the Farm to Fabric Challenge. Should your entry be selected into the exhibit, you will be notified no later than Friday September 5, 2014. Selected quilts must arrive in Houston, TX no later than Wednesday October 1, 2014 to be displayed in the International Quilt Market and Festival.
Good luck and Happy Creating!!! We can’t wait to see what you make with American Made Brand fabrics!
