Fun Summer Show & Tell

Toni's Quilt

It’s the peak of the Summer season, the sun and heat are relentless, so what’s a crafter to do?  Take cover in an room with A/C and a sewing machine and sew your heart out!!!  We’d like to take a moment to show off the creative pursuits of a couple of our talented members of the Clothworks team.

Can you spot the Clothworks fabrics in the quilt pictured above?  Toni, our Sample Room extraordinaire, and her quilt guild produced this gorgeous block sampler quilt using some of the fabric from the Bloom collection by Masha D’yans, as well as some American Made Brand Solids.  I love the cheeriness of the summery yellows and greens, contrasted by the deep purple and pulled together by the white!  This quilt is going to a very lucky lady in Toni’s guild to help comfort her in her cancer treatment.

I’m smitten with the hand-stitched applique work on these flower bouquets!!!

Toni Quilt Blocks Collage

In this collage above, here are a few more up close pics of some of the more complex blocks in this quilt.  Toni and her guild are quite a talented and generous bunch.  You can tell they put their heart and soul into this quilt for their dear friend.

As we move on to our next summer sewing show & tell, I’ve got to just say that this is my favorite!!!  Gabe who volunteers with us, is quite a prolific sewist.  Just look at the quilt she was piecing below if that tells you anything:

Gabe Tangier Quilt

Using the beautiful fabrics from the Tangier collection by Sew Zipkin, this simple pieced block comprised of squares, rectangles, and sashing, really highlights the beauty of the colors in this line.

Gabe Quilt Up Close

I’m just loving how Gabe used a cream fabric for sashing as it really allows the prints in Tangier to pop!  It almost looks like a mosaic or tiling, don’t you think?  Well done, Gabe!!

So, how about you?  What kind of fun have you been crafting up this summer?
