AMB Solids found in the Newest 100 Blocks by Quiltmaker’s

Quilt Maker's

Volume 10 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks is hitting the news stands now.  Not only is American Made Brand solids featured in one of the blocks, but Clothworks’ very own Bonnie designed this stunning geometric-inspired block!  And it made the front cover!!

If you’ve been following us here on The Works, you may remember the talented & methodical, Bonnie, resident Clothworks ‘Pattern Queen’ and recently retired Clothworks employee.  Retirement is treating Bonnie well, and besides designing challenging quilt blocks, she’s been busy tending to her ‘jungle’ as she affectionately calls her garden and working on a quilt from The Row by Row Experience.

A trip to the local library to check out the ‘bible’ of quilt block patterns, ‘The Quilter’s Album of Patchwork Patterns’ by Jinny Beyer, inspired Bonnie to create her block design, ‘Four O’Clock Blossom’.  Jinny Beyer’s newest book has 4,050 block patterns in it (did we mention it weighs nearly 5 lbs??).  Bonnie knew it would be a challenge to ‘reinvent the wheel’ when it comes to coming up with an original quilt block, but I think her contribution to Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks is a slam dunk!  Bonnie was inspired by the 3D effects of many of the quilt block patterns in this book and wanted to create a unique block pattern that would be fairly simple for the experienced quilter to piece.  The American Made Brand Solids by Clothworks read well in this pattern and highlight the 3D effect of the design.
