OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Just another reminder, for those of you who live in or will be visiting Washington State around the Lake Washington area, support your Local Quilt Shops this weekend and participate in the  First Annual Around the Lake Quilt Shop Holiday Hop– today, Friday December 5th & tomorrow, Saturday December 6th!

A free pattern, the ‘Merry & Bright Star’ block, using a red-cream-white color scheme of American Made Brand solids by Clothworks will be featured in this first ever mini Holiday-themed Shop Hop.  Below is a pic of the pattern, a much simplified version of the Feathered Star quilt pattern inspired by Clothworks fabric designer and Quilt designer Marsha McCloskey.

As you can see in the picture all the way at the top of this post, Susan from Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop, has turned her completed ‘Merry & Bright Star’ block into a wall-hanging that’s both aesthetically pleasing and functional (loving the dual use as a candy cane holder!!!).  Be sure to make a stop at her shop, Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop, to be inspired by many more holiday and gift-giving ideas!  And just to entice you a bit more to make the loop around the lake to her shop, Susan is offering a grand prize giveaway of 20 Half Yard Cuts in assorted colors of American Made Brand Fabrics ( see below)!!

Have a Splendid Weekend!

  1. Oh I so wish I could have visited for the hop! My dad lives in Woodinville, and I would love to visit both him and the shops! But I live in Utah and a trip to Washington isn’t possible.
Lovely star! If it’s a free pattern, can we have it online after the hop is over?

    • Hi Rachell: Oh that’s too bad you couldn’t make it to the hop. Susan of Gathering Fabrics has just informed me that it was well-attended!! She also said that if you’d still like the free pattern, you can send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Gathering Fabric (look up their address at http://www.gatheringfabric.com) and they will send you one at no charge. Thank you for your interest and have a great day!

    • Hi! Thanks for your question. Gathering Fabrics in Woodinville, WA coordinated the Holiday Shop Hop around the Lake last year. I looked on their website and facebook page, but did not see any info about an even for this year. You could check back at their website www dot gatheringfabric dot com for any updates.
