Frou-Frou to Premiere at LQS this Weekend!

FrouFrou - 1-2-3 Voila

The newest addition to the Clothworks product line, Frou-Frou, will be debuting at a LQS (local quilt shop) this Saturday, August 6th.  If you’re lucky to be near Chelan, WA, head over to Woven Threads Quilt Store for an ‘evening in Paris’ as our Clothworks representative, Angela, will debut the fabrics, trims, and notions from this exclusive French brand!

Clothworks was thrilled to introduce Frou-Frou at their booth during Spring Quilt Market this past year.  So far, we’ve received a lot of interest in Frou-Frou and have started shipping this exquisite line of color-coordinating fabrics & trims from France to our customers scattered across the USA.  Besides the matching fabrics, trims, and notions, Frou-Frou also offers easy-to-make clothing and accessory patterns–making it a no-brainer for the modern sewist who is pressed for time, but passionate about creating something cute and DIY.

Head to your LQS to inquire about Frou-Frou.  And mark your calendar for Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at 6-8pm (PDT) to attend the Frou-Frou event hosted by Angela from Clothworks at Woven Threads Quilt Store in Chelan, WA.  Oh-la-la!

Road to California Quilt Show Highlights

R2C AMB Booth

Last week, American Made Brand made its first showing at the Road to California Quilt Show at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California.  The experience was a positive one–connecting with quilters, quilt shop owners, long arm folks, and other crafty people, to continue promoting American Made Brand fabric– a 100% cotton that’s not just made here, but grown here in the USA, too!

Swatches and postcard R2C

Most of the folks who visited our booth left with some American Made Brand teaser packs (shown above) in array of solid colors.  But it wasn’t just the goodies that drew people to our booth.  Our display of quilt samples made up in the vibrant, saturated colors of American Made Brand fabric enticed many onlookers into the booth to get an up close view.

AMB Flag Selfie

The artistic interpretation of this American Flag quilt, ‘Flying High’ by Joined at the Hip, brought many people to our booth, either to take pictures of the quilt itself, or to take a selfie with it, such as this lovely lady decked out in matching patriotic fare.

Robin Ruth

Even quilt designer Robin Ruth and her mother made a visit to the AMB booth to pose with Robin’s spectacular Mariner’s Compass quilt in American Made Brand fabrics!

Tiny Quilt= Full Exhibit

Besides our booth display, American Made Brand was thrilled to also debut the Tiny Quilt Challenge exhibit at Road to California, as well!  See prior post for more pictures, including the Grand Prize Winner of the challenge.

R2C Shop Display Collage

Road to California was a busy show for us, but I managed to spot American Made Brand in these displays at The Sew N Sew and Carriage Country Quilts!

Being in Southern California in January was not so bad.  Especially with a pretty view like this.

It was paradise on the outside……and on the inside!

Fancy That! Designer Cat Beds featuring Clothworks fabric

Designer Pet Bed manufacturer, the Cat Ball, is special in a few ways.  Not only are they a locally-based business residing here in the Pacific Northwest, just like Clothworks, but they offer their uniquely designed product made from Clothworks fabric, too!  Jennifer Schmidt, designer & brains behind her company, the Cat Ball, was once hired as a costumer designer to make a life-size soccer ball costume for a mascot of the Seattle Sounders professional soccer team.  Taking a technical approach to the project, she developed a scaled-down model of the soccer ball costume to ensure her design would function.  Her ‘A-ha!’ moment occurred one day, about a year or two after completion of the mascot costume job, when she envisioned another purpose for the small soccer ball prototype.  After letting her kittens play around with it, she knew she was on to something big.  Her kittens loved it and the Cat Ball® cat bed was born!

Jennifer was kind enough to send me a few pictures of her nifty cat beds, which are produced in 2 different shapes-   the Cat Canoe® cat bed  (shown above in the pink fabric) and the Cat Ball® cat bed shown in the pics with the blue fabric.  Her product has been featured in countless magazines, on T.V., and ships across the country and around the world.  We’re tickled to see Clothworks fabrics used in such an un-cat-ventional, ermm, unconventional way.  Recognize the pink and blue fabrics in the pictures here?   From the Here Kitty Kitty organic cotton collection, a past release by designer, Penguin & Fish.

To see more Cat-tastic Cuteness, visit the Cat Ball on the web or follow them on the Cat Ball facebook page.

Local Quilt Shop Spotlight: Threads of Time Shop Event

choc & cherry display

Chocolate and Cherries, the most recent Clothworks fabric line by celebrated designer Marsha McCloskey, was destined to tantalize the senses.  With its romantic vintage floral & paisley prints in equally delectable colors– cherry red, icing pink, chocolate brown, and caramel beige- this fabric collection was meant to inspire creativity and perhaps whet the palate.

Owner Missi Gouty, of local quilt shop Threads of Time in Danville, IL, most certainly let her creativity unfurl as soon as she received her shipment of Chocolate and Cherries fabric.  With a yummy collection name (that’s making my stomach growl as I write this post), Missi’s marketing genius turned the unveiling of this Clothworks collection into a shop event entitled Chocolate & Cherries Day.  And from the sounds of it, her fabric shop was turned into a sweets shop, too (winning combo)!  Hot Chocolate was served with chocolates, brownie bits, and cherry toppings.  A complimentary box of chocolate-covered cherries was presented to customers who purchased 3 yard cuts of the full fabric collection, a kit, or a jelly roll (hand cut by the shop staff, too).

Shown here are pics of the shop displays celebrating Chocolate & Cherries Day at Threads of Time.

Here’s a stunning pic of Chocolate & Cherries sampled in the Electric Fans quilt by Aardvark Quilts.  That monkey table is too cute!!
